10 years ago today I started my music journey by playing a few songs at the Topos Blues session in Leverkusen. 9th May 2006. That was a magical night and I’ll never forget how nervous I was just sitting there with my band, Daniel Häker and Warren Richardson, waiting to go on stage! I remember thinking how can anyone do this? Then we went on stage, I plugged in my Fender Tele and we launched into ‘Going Down’ by Freddie King. The adrenalin rush hit me and baaam! I was hooked. Playing guitar and singing in front of an audience? Magic. That was the start of the 10 year journey. I can’t imagine my life without it.
To mark this milestone I held a party & live session in my studio, Tresorfabrik Tonstudio in Duisburg this past Saturday with the most loyal and closest fans! It was an unforgettable night! Thanks to my wonderful wife Jennifer Pohlmann, my producer and friend Thomas Hannes and my band mates Jonas Bareiter and Janosch Brenneisen for making this such a wonderful night.
Thank you to all the fans who keep me motivated to write new songs, who buy the albums and come from near and far to see my shows. This “thing” has grown over the last 10 years and I hope will continue to grow!
I’m incredibly grateful to all of those who have helped me along the way… there are simply too many names to mention.
To mark this milestone I’ll be releasing a 10 Years Live album later this year. We’ve recorded various shows this spring, including the whole of the Duisburg event and filmed the interviews with Nuborn Pictures on Sunday. More news about the release in the coming months. Stay tuned and thanks for your continued interest in me and my music. It’s a gift to be able to play the blues.
I’ll leave you with a lovely shot from Saturday from Ashley Greb Photography.
