New Resolution
KRIS POHLMANN formed the KRIS POHLMAN BAND in the summer of 2005 and spent the next 4 years touring Germany, opening for the likes of Eric Gales & Nine Below Zero and building up a reputation as a high energy live act. Melting the boundaries between blues, rock and funk, creating a unique blend of blues, KRIS wanted to capture this music and in the summer of 2009 headed into the now defunct Stattwerke Studios in Düsseldorf to record the band’s debut release. It was here that KRIS met producer & sound engineer Thomas Hannes with whom he would form a long term friendship and musical partnership.
New Resolution features an eclectic mix of styles from straight up blues “Got To Let You Go” – complete with horn section, to blues-rock “Got To Be The Blues”, both of which are still live favourites today, through to the ballad “Get Away” and shuffle of “Fallin’ Down”, a song which for many years would close the band’s concerts. The song “I’ll Come Around” won the German Radio station WDR2’s ‘Best Newcomer Song’ 3 weeks in a row.
New Resolution was released on the 1st December 2009 and officially launched at Hamtorkrug in Neuss on the 16th January 2010. The band spent the next 2 years touring the album, further growing their Germany fanbase as well as penetrating the Dutch blues scene.
